Scores of pensioners of Public Work Department across Kashmir are up in arms against Accounts General Office for falling to provide them pending pension benefits.
The PWD pensioners told Rising Kashmir that they have not received their pending pension from the past two years, accusing the government for neglecting them.
Mohammad Ashraf, a wage pensioner of Islamabad said their pension policy under SRO 59 was regularized from 1989 to 2o15.
“After 2015 the AG Office resolves cases under same policy but unfortunately at the Accounts General office the cases are pending since 2018,” he said.
There are scores of such pensioners like him who are suffering due to the lackadaisical approach of the government.
“We are suffering over these years. It has badly affected our livelihoods. From time to time we had been requesting the Accounts General but he did not respond our requests,” said Ashraf.
The miseries of the delay in pension benefits are similar to Abdul Ahad Bando, a wage pensioner of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
“We have been totally neglected by the administration. We don’t have pocket money. If there is urgency in our home, what can we do?” he asked
The PWD pensioners are appealed to the LT Governor government to solve the pending pension benefits.
